Midland University honored 14 students as 2022-23 Who’s Who Award recipients during a ceremony December 6th at the Olson Student Center. The Who’s Who Award recognizes students for their academic achievement, service to their community, leadership in co-curricular activities, and potential for continued success beyond Midland University. Congratulations to all the award winners!
Em Cunningham – Em is from Platte Center, Nebraska and is the child of Sarah and Reeve Cunningham. Em is a senior Arts Management and Communication Studies major and is also working toward a certificate in diversity and inclusion. Em is a member of the Midland speech & debate team and is the President of PRISM.
Olivia Engel – Olivia is from Columbus, Nebraska and is the daughter of Tracy and Kim Engel. She is a senior studying music education. During her time at Midland, Olivia has been a member of the women’s golf team, Cru, NMEA, SAAC, Phi Omega Sorority, choir, band, and theater productions. She has also worked as a resident advisor, admissions ambassador, and help desk employee.
Addison Johnson – Addison is from Kilgore, Nebraska and is the daughter of J.P. and Kimberly Johnson. Addison will graduate with degrees in Biology and Agribusiness. Addison has been involved in FCA, campus ministries, women’s flag football, volleyball, Phi Omega sorority, and has served as a resident advisor.
Emma Johnson – Emma is from Kansas City, Kansas and is the daughter of Kim and Kevin Brown. She is a senior with a double major in Communications Studies and Digital Marketing with minors in Graphic Arts and Human Services. She is a member of the Honors Programs and has served as an Admissions Ambassador for four years, as well as interning in the Admissions Office. Emma has been a resident advisor and has served as a student hall director for the past two years. She has served as chaplain for Phi Omega Sorority and is co-founder and co-president of Cru.
Katie Keith – Katie is from Gretna, Nebraska and is the daughter of Molly and Brandon Kuehl. She is an Exercise Science major with minors in Biology and Psychology. Katie is the head of community service for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, is part of the gameday cheerleading team at Midland, and is an Admissions Ambassador.
Katie Kimes – Katie is from Fremont, Nebraska and is the daughter of Shari Watkins and Timothy and Lezle Kimes. Katie is majoring in Elementary Education with a certificate in Social Emotional Learning and a minor in Psychology. Katie is part of the Student Education Association and serves as the group’s publicity/marketing officer. Katie has been inducted into the Cardinal Key Honor Society.
Anna Lowary – Anna is from Atlantic, Iowa and is the daughter of Jeff and Denise Lowary. She is an Elementary Education major. During her time at Midland, Anna has been involved as a member of the swimming and diving team, Anderson Leaders Program, and Phi Omega sorority.
Gage McGill – Gage is from Ponca, Nebraska and is the son of Reed and Amy McGill. Gage is a Biology major and has competed on the Midland football team, served as a group leader for FAC, and is a member of the Blue Key Honor Society.
Arturo Montes – Arturo is from Chihuahua, Mexico and is the son of Jose Arturo Montes Ortiz and Claudia Ivonne Reyes Martinez. Arturo is an Accounting major. He served as a small group leader for FCA, is a member of the Blue Key Honor Society, spent two years on the basketball team, and has served as a resident advisor for the past three years.
Jessie Montes – Jessie is from Des Moines, Iowa and is the daughter of Brent and Tami Hall and Viola Baker. She is a senior nursing major and has been involved in the Student Nurses Association, Pinky Swear Pact, and Cru. She has also served as a resident advisor, student hall director, a tutor for ARC, Cardinal Key Honor Society, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for nursing.
Kailey Novak – Kailey is from Omaha, Nebraska and is the daughter of Amber and Scott Novak. She is a senior nursing major and is also a member of the competition cheerleading team, the Student Senate, Student Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for nursing.
Piper Rasmussen – Piper is from Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska and is the daughter of Ray and Jennie Rasmussen. She is an accounting major. Piper serves as the current philanthropy chair of Phi Omega sorority, treasurer for Cardinal Key Honor Society, and Executive Vice President of FBLA-Collegiate.
Jenna Schroeder – Jenna is from Holdrege, Nebraska and is the daughter of Brent and Jayme Schroeder. Jenna is a senior Arts Management major who is involved in choir, theater, and the Clef Dwellers a cappella group. Jenna has served as an admissions ambassador, the president of Alpha Psi Omega Theater Honor Society, and is the current student coordinator for the All-State Musical.
Carter Welch – Carter is from Bloomer, Wisconsin and is the son of Jeremy and Kelly Sippy. He has a double major in Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Business. Carter currently serves as the Student Body President as well as being a Student Resident Life Coordinator. He is the Pi Gamma Mu president, Psi Chi Membership Coordinator, Blue Key Honor Society president, a member of SAAC, and is captain of the Midland powerlifting team.
