Midland University, Metropolitan Community College Team Up for MCC2Midland Pathway Program
Midland University is excited to announce a partnership with Metropolitan Community College that will allow students a smooth transition from a two-year program to earning a four-year degree.
The MCC2Midland pathway program links MCC programs directly to earning a degree from Midland University. The program will allow students to complete their four-year degree at Midland in two years or less after completing the required coursework and earning their associates degree at MCC. The two institutions have worked together to ensure that MCC Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees align with general education requirements at Midland, allowing students to focus on classes related to their major upon transferring to Midland.
Midland will offer a $23,000 scholarship (per year) to transfer students. An additional $500 per year is available for students who participate in an official campus visit, while a $250 per year Warrior Grant is awarded to students who submit their ACT/SAT test scores to be used for academic placement.
Students in the program will also have the opportunity to participate in collegiate activities like athletics or arts at Midland and can choose to live on or off campus during their time at Midland.
“We are thrilled to be teaming up with Metropolitan Community College to offer this program to students,” said Jamie Simpson, Chief Academic Officer at Midland University. “It will provide students not only with the opportunity to further their education but also increase their earning potential in a demanding job environment.”
Through MCC2Midland, students can pursue career tracks with bright salary outlooks. According to a 2022 report from the National Center for Education Statistics at IES, employees with bachelor’s degrees earned approximately $15,500 more than those with associate’s degrees in 2020. That same report indicated that employees with an associate degree earn $4,200 more annually than individuals with some college but no degree and $7,500 more than workers with only a high school diploma.
“The best transfer agreements, between MCC and our four-year partners, incentivize completion of the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree,” said Tom McDonnell, Vice President of Academic Affairs at MCC. “This agreement with Midland does that, so it’s a great opportunity for MCC students.”
Degrees can be earned through 12 different pathways at Midland, including Biology, Business Administration, Communications Studies, History, Criminal Justice, English, Human Services – Adult & Family Development Concentration, Human Services – Childhood & Adolescence Concentration, Human Services – Community & Mental Health Concentration, Psychology, and Sociology.
