Midland University and Fremont Public Schools are excited to announce a partnership allowing FPS students to remove application barriers to create greater access to higher education.
Through the Direct Admissions program, FPS students will earn a yearly renewable scholarship to Midland. In addition to this scholarship, need-based grants, loans, and outside scholarships may be added to this original offer. To gain acceptance into the program, students must have a GPA of 3.0 or greater entering the fall semester of their senior year.
“This program is a great opportunity for our students to keep their talents local, right here in our community,” said Myron Sikora, Fremont High School Principal. “With our current partnerships already in place, this program creates a smooth transition from high school to college.”
The National Center for Education Statistics reports that undergraduate enrollment is down nearly 9 percent over the past 15 years, and programs like Direct Admissions can create a pathway that makes it more accessible for high school graduates to attend college. Students don’t have to be concerned about the fear of rejection from a university or worry about the stress of going through the application process.
“The Direct Admissions program eliminates barriers and stigmas about acceptance while ensuring students will have a smooth transition from high school to college and, ultimately, the career of their dreams,” said Lori Ethier, Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing at Midland. “This program allows students to begin picturing themselves in college and exploring their potential.”
Eligible students will begin enrolling at Midland University as early as Fall 2025. Interested alumni of Fremont High School are encouraged to email admissions@midlandu.edu to learn more about their eligibility for similar offerings.
