Maddy Fauver | Faces of Midland

09/10/24

A passion for dance, a passion for Midland |

Maddy Fauver is passionate about many things. She’s passionate about her experience at Midland University, being a member of the Midland dance team, and a future career in Digital Marketing.

“I use that word a lot. I have had an amazing experience at Midland and have loved my time here. I feel so grateful to have a strong passion for what I do, and to be able to share that passion with my teammates, and be supported by so many people along the way.”

A senior from Gretna, Nebraska, Maddy has been involved in dance since a very young age, and her love of dance was a driving force in her choosing Midland.

“I started dancing when I was in fourth grade. My dad thought I should be a wrestler, but I suggested dance instead. I knew I wanted to pursue dancing beyond high school, and Midland gave me the opportunity to continue dancing at a competitive level.”

In her three years on the dance team, Maddy has emerged as one of the leaders on a team that finished as national runner-up a season ago. She has spent the past two years on the recruitment team, helping spark interest in the program to prospective students. “I’m very passionate about where the program is going, and I love talking about Midland. We get to travel to different recruiting events and talk to dancers about what opportunities Midland has to offer.”

Being able to continue her dancing career opened the door for Maddy to come to Midland, but she has since discovered many other reasons why Midland has been the right choice. “I love the small campus and the family feel that exists. I enjoy the smaller class sizes because it’s been important to me to build good relationships with my professors. The support we get from faculty has been amazing. They have a deep care for students beyond the classroom, and they are supportive of priorities outside of the classroom.”

Throughout high school, Maddy thought she herself would be in front of the classroom someday as a teacher. However, after visiting Dr. Nick Schreck, Dean for the Dunklau School of Business, her mindset shifted to Digital Marketing. “I talked to Nick during my New Student Onboarding, and I could tell he was very passionate about what he does. He has provided me with resources for advancing my outlook and was a key factor in me getting an internship as a sales intern with Holmes Murphy (insurance broker) this past summer.

“That was one of the best experiences I’ve had. I love talking to people, building and growing relationships, and hearing where people want to be in life and how I can help them get there. Working as a recruiter for the dance team translates well into a sales role.”

A potential career in sales would be the ideal fit for Maddy, but she also wants to make sure dance remains a part of her life, in one facet or another. “My dream would be to dance for an NBA team. I also have a strong passion for choreography, and I have been able to choreograph several performances during my time at Midland. I could see myself as a freelance choreographer working at a studio someday.”

Maddy Fauver is a senior Digital Marketing major from Gretna, Nebraska.
