A Coach On and Off the Field
Jake Loftus has a decade worth of experience in many roles at Midland University.
He graduated from Midland in 2015 after spending four years as an All-GPAC performer on the Warriors baseball team. His love for the sport translated into being a graduate assistant and assistant coach for the program for another three years. For the past four years, he has served as an Admissions Counselor, recently being promoted to Senior Admissions Counselor.
Baseball may have brought Jake to Midland, but it’s the people that have kept him here. “I truly enjoy coming to work every day with the people I get to work with. There is an amazing culture on our campus, which makes it so comforting and a fun place to be.”
He got a taste for recruiting as a coach, and that passion carried over into his role as an admissions counselor. “I have always loved recruiting. It started as a baseball coach, and moving into admissions allowed me to continue recruiting.”
As a former Midland student, Jake can feel a prospective student’s excitement when they officially enroll. “Seeing them commit is my favorite part. I love to see how excited they are when I get to tell them they have been accepted or have received a scholarship. When I see a student and family get excited about those things, I feel like I made a small impact on that person’s life. It’s rewarding seeing students achieve their goals!”
“I also love being able to share my experience with the next group of students looking at Midland. It was the best four years of my life when I was a student here, and I want future Warriors to have that same experience.”
He also understands the admissions process is the first step in the college journey and that following through on that commitment is a four-year responsibility. “Just like anything in life, you need to show up and do the work.”
When not helping students plan for their future, Jake enjoys spending time with his family and sneaking in a few rounds of golf. “I’m not very good at golf, but it’s always a good time to hang out with friends, swing the clubs, and lose some golf balls!”

Something people might not know about you: I absolutely love to cook! Am I the best at it? No, but it has always been something I would do with family, and I began to love it and get pretty good at it (for my standards).
