2023 Alumni & Legacy Awards Recipients

Dr. Quincy Johnson ’16 – Outstanding Young Alumni Award

Dr. Quincy Johnson helped found the Midland Powerlifting club during his time as a student. 

After working at both Oklahoma State and the University of Nebraska-Kearney, Johnson currently serves as professor of Health, Sport & Exercise Science at the University of Kansas.  He has also served as Lead Program Coordinator for USA basketball and recently co-founded the Oklahoma State University Golf Research Innovation and Performance Center.

Ann Prince ’91 – Alumni Achievement Award

Ann (Albrecht) Prince is a physical education teacher at Grandview Middle School in the Elkhorn School District and has served as the girls basketball coach since the school opened in 2020, guiding the Wolves to three consecutive Class B state titles.

During her time at Midland, she was a member of the Warriors’ women’s basketball team and later spent 14 years as an assistant to legendary coach Joanne Bracker.

McMahon Family – Distinguished Midland Family Award

The McMahon family’s involvement with Midland University has spanned three generations and 45 years. The late Jim McMahon began his coaching career at Midland in 1978 and would serve as cross country and track and field coach for nearly 40 years.

Jim’s wife, Karen, was an administrative assistant in the athletic department for 26 years. Their three sons, Chris ‘94, Sean ‘96, and Kyle ‘04, each graduated from Midland, as did Sean’s wife, Beth (Parr) ‘00. Sean and Beth’s son, Ross, will graduate from Midland in May.

Dale Olson – Impact Award

Dale Olson served 38 years as an engineer with Valmont Industries and would later serve as director for RVR Bank in Fremont.

He has been a stalwart of Fremont and surrounding communities and has made a great impact on Midland University. The Olson Student Center on the Midland campus and Olson Village apartments in Fremont are named in honor of his family.
