To the Beat of His Own Drum
Music and teaching have always provided inspiration for Frank Ferraro.
Frank has been an adjunct professor at Midland University since 2019, teaching Fundamentals of Psychology. His desire to be an educator is something that runs in his family. “My grandfather was a professor of microbiology at Creighton. He always was my inspiration to go to graduate school, and ultimately, into the teaching profession.”
He enjoys teaching at Midland and its tight-knit community. “I enjoy the small atmosphere of campus. The students and faculty are very friendly.”
Teaching is not the only passion that runs deep for Frank. His love of music began in high school and continues today as he plays and teaches drums part-time in Lincoln. “I started in high school, and it will always be a part of my life,” Ferraro said. “I play in a local band (Andy Pappas & Jukebox Gyro) and play shows in Omaha and Lincoln. We released our first studio album last year (Inside Voices).”
Along with his love for music, Frank is a big fan of the outdoors. He enjoys wilderness camping and took a wilderness trip to Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Minnesota this past summer.
Frank also enjoys reading books and pushes his students to do as much reading as they can. “I encourage students to keep their brains active and do challenging activities to stimulate their minds. Reading books is a great way to do that.”
