With Purpose Speaker Series: The Impact of AI on Your Career
Midland University will be hosting the With Purpose Speaker Series during the 2023-24 academic year. All three events will be held on the Fremont campus. Attendance is free and open to the public.
The series kicks off with “The Impact of AI on Your Career,” on Wednesday, November 1 at 7 p.m., in the Olson Student Center, where a panel of industry experts from the fields of banking, manufacturing, medicine, education, and technology discuss the implications of artificial intelligence (AI) on their respective fields.
Future topics include burnout and mental health, and the environment. Details for the remaining events in the series will be shared soon.
Meet the Panelists
Dr. Ryan Cameron
Dr. Ryan Cameron serves as the VP of IT and Innovation for Children’s Hospital and Medical Center. Ryan was honored by the AIM Institute as Innovator of the Year for two consecutive years (2021 & 2022). He founded Bright Foundry, LLC Children’s start-up incubator. Previously he worked for Ivy.ai, creating “Campus Clear” a COVID-19 tracking application and advanced the company to the rank of #168th in Inc. 5,000 fastest-growing companies. Ryan founded Creighton University’s Idea Hub, a research studio focused on creating positive social change using technology. Ryan graduated from the American College of Education and has authored two books.
Kimberly Ingraham-Beck
Kimberly received her Bachelor in Music Education degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), her Masters in Secondary Education with emphasis in Music and Technology from UNO, her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane University, and her Masters in Computer Science Education from UNO. Kim taught Instrumental Music at Omaha Bryan High School for 6 years. Kimberly is currently a Computer Science Teacher and eSports Coach for Gretna Public Schools and is in her 7th year there. She is the President of the Metro Omaha chapter of the Computer Science Teachers Association, the Vice President of the Nebraska Schools eSports Association, and an adjunct Information Technology professor at Metro Community College.
Chase Nuzum
Chase Nuzum is a seasoned data scientist with over five years of experience, driven by a passion for utilizing software and machine learning to tackle complex challenges. With a specialized focus on forecasting, manufacturing optimization, and pricing, Chase has honed expertise in crafting data-driven applications that enhance automation and decision-making. Collaborating with skilled data professionals, Chase has uncovered actionable insights through cutting-edge algorithms. This commitment to pushing the frontiers of AI and hands-on experience deploying machine learning models to production positions Chase to share valuable insights, fostering discussions about the potential of AI in the workplace.
Laurel Oetken
Laurel Oetken is the Executive Director of Tech Nebraska. In her role, she works to foster a diverse and inclusive technology workforce and advocates for pro-growth, tech-focused public policies spanning the state of Nebraska. She is an alumna of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Erin Saxby
Erin Saxby is a Vice President in technology at FNBO, she leads Enterprise Platforms, Data Engineering and Data Operations. She has over three decades of experience in the ever-evolving landscape of Financial Services and technology. A Boston College alumna, Erin holds degrees in Political Science and Management Information Systems. Throughout her career, Erin has championed the transformative power of data-driven decision-making. Her passion for harnessing data to drive innovation and enhance customer experiences has been the cornerstone of her professional journey. Erin is an advocate for the potential of AI to reshape industries, customer interactions, and experiences.
