The Imagine Dragons lyric “…’cause you know that you gotta get out of the middle and rise to the top now” plays in Adler Misner’s head not only as he works out with his best friend but also as he works with the football program at Midland.
When he was exploring colleges, he decided to come to Midland because he knew it was going to be a great opportunity. And because he wanted to try something different than sunny San Diego, where he has lived his whole life. From the minute he stepped on campus, Adler dived right into campus life.
As a strength and conditioning student, it’s no surprise he has gotten involved as a student coach for the football team. He also helps head strength and conditioning coach Morgan Bergen in the weight room so he can learn as much as he can during his time here. “He knows what he is doing and is always looking to see what is best for the student-athletes,” Adler said about Coach Bergen.
His favorite part about being a student coach is learning from all the coaches and helping the team the best he can. “I know everyone has their part and you just have to know your role,” he shared about the team dynamic. Not only is he gaining experience, but he is also building connections with the players, coaches, and staff that will last a lifetime.
After graduation, Adler hopes to continue his education and further his coaching experience at Midland as a graduate assistant. His dream job is to run a football program and help develop athletes as a head coach.
“The best advice I’ve received was from my dad,” Adler says. “I was having a rough morning and running late and he said, “ABP. Always Be Positive.” ABP means to have a positive mindset and know that there will be rough days, but try to find a positive in anything you do.”
As someone that strives to help others and better himself no matter where he’s at in life, he feels like being a football coach is the perfect fit. Adler encourages his classmates to not be afraid to reach out to talk to him, as he loves getting to know new people!
