FAQs

I don’t have any university credits at all. Can I enroll in this program?

Absolutely! The Three to Teach program was designed for paraprofessionals with zero or limited incoming credits. You will work closely with your Midland advisor to create a degree plan that will allow you to graduate with your teaching degree in just three years. No credits, no problem!

Do I need to be employed by a district to be eligible for this program?

Yes, the Three to Teach and Teacher Career Ladder programs are designed exclusively for working paraeducators.

Can I work in a middle or high school if I’m in this program?

You may work in a middle or high school until you enter the first Fall of your program. From then on, however, you must be employed in an elementary school setting. You will be completing field-based experience hours in several of your courses and an extended student teaching experience in the final term of your program. Since you are earning an Elementary Education Degree, these experiences must all occur in an Elementary Setting.

What types of resources are available to me?

Students enrolled in these paraeducator programs will be matched with a professional advisor who will walk them through class registration, and be a good resource for all questions during the duration of the program. Financial assistance is available through district grants, and if you do not qualify for a scholarship through your district your advisor will connect you to Midland University scholarship opportunities, in addition to federal grants, loans and aid if you file the FAFSA. Our caring and knowledgeable faculty will be the best resource to you in the classroom. At Midland, your personal and professional success is our greatest focus. Join the Midland community and see this support for yourself!

I’m nervous about enrolling in an exclusively online program. What type of support does Midland University offer to help me should I have tech challenges?

Midland University students seeking to earn their bachelor’s degree are given an iPad to support learning and access to technology. Should you need assistance the Midland University Service desk is available to you via email, service ticket or phone call.

What are the benefits of enrolling in an online program?

Our online programs are designed with the working professional in mind! Courses are held in synchronous (i.e., in real time) and asynchronous (i.e., allows students to complete coursework at their own throughout each week) formats.

The online format allows you to tackle homework and assignments as your schedule allows, and in the comfort of your own space but with the comfort of knowing you’re not alone! The Three to Teach program and Teacher Career Ladder programs are cohort based, meaning you will be in class with a group of students for the duration of the program. By the time you graduate not only will you have relevant hands-on experience, but you will be deeply connected to fellow educators and faculty who will mentor you in many ways!
