Study Away 2026
France | May 19-27, 2026
Students will explore nutrition and agriculture while gaining a deeper understanding of the connections between food, culture, and sustainability in France, a country with a rich history of shaping culinary practices.
Experiences:
- Guided sightseeing tour that includes the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees, and more
- Visits to a wine cave, a French dairy farm, and a local creperie
- Cruise the Seine River
Course Name: Taste of France
Instructors: Dr. Emmy Smith and Mr. Erik Hoegemeyer
France is renowned for its sophisticated approach to food and cuisine. Students will have the opportunity to learn about nutrition and agriculture and gain insight into the intersection of food, culture, and sustainability in a country that has long influenced culinary practices. Students will explore diverse food systems, farming practices, and cultural perspectives on nutrition. It will enable them to learn from local expertise, experience new agricultural techniques, and understand how environmental, economic, and social factors influence food production and consumption in different regions.
+ Credits: 3 General Elective
+ Cost: $5,550 – All expenses (airfare, lodging, food, and group destinations) are included
+ October 15, 2025: $2,000 payment
+ January 15, 2026: $3,000 payment
+ March 15, 2026: $550 payment
